Hair Reduction

Laser treatment for unwanted hair is a non-invasive approach to permanent reduction and long-term hair removal. Treatment is specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body, safely eliminating hundreds of unwanted hair follicles instantly. Unlike many other treatment methods, laser therapy leaves your skin looking and feeling softer!

How does laser treatment work?

Erasers uses a laser technology known as Lyra. With Lyra, the laser beam penetrates your skin and gets absorbed in the hair follicle residing under the skin surface. The laser energy destroys the follicle with the heat that it generates. Because the laser beam is large in diameter, it affects a large number of hairs simultaneously.

What are the advantages of using Lyra for hair removal?

Lyra is an FDA-approved technology for permanent hair reduction. It offers effective results while maintaining the normal appearance of the skin. It uses the best technology currently available for hair removal, offering outstanding results with the widest range of skin tones and hair colors.

How can I know if I’m a candidate for treatment?

We’ve given perfectly successful laser hair treatments to men, women, and even children. We customize the treatments according to hair color, texture, and location on the body. Black and brown hair can be treated. (Unfortunately, no laser technology is able to treat red and blonde hair.) The treatment is effective on all skin types, including dark-skinned individuals and those of all ethnic origins. You can call (877) 414 -8346 to set up a consultation and find out if laser hair removal is right for you.

What is treatment like? Does it hurt?

Most patients experience a mild stinging or burning sensation when a laser pulse is delivered, but the laser works so quickly that the sensation usually doesn’t linger. In fact, laser hair removal is widely regarded as less painful than alternative treatment methods.

To reduce discomfort, a cooling system automatically removes heat from the surface of your skin before, during and after the laser exposure. You will not need a general anesthesia or pain medication, but a topical anesthetic cream may be applied to sensitive areas.

How long will a session take?

Generally, facials areas like the lip, chin, and beard can be treated in a matter of minutes. Larger areas such as backs, shoulders, abdomens, and legs take longer, but even then treatment is fairly rapid.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Make sure the area is clean and shaven, and limit your sun exposure for the 2 weeks prior to treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The answer to this depends on factors like hair density, hair color, skin type, treatment area, and your hair growth cycle. The density of your hair and its growth cycle are affected by many things such as your age, ethnic background, hormones, and medications. During your consultation, we can estimate the number of treatments you will need.

Because laser treatment impairs the growth of hair follicles at a certain point in their growth cycle, not all follicles will be affected in one treatment. However, the results will be better and better with each passing session. Treatments are scheduled a few weeks apart to ensure maximum effectiveness and safety.

What should I expect following the treatment?

Once the treatment is complete, the area exposed to the laser is cleansed and you are free to return to your normal routine with no down time. Some patients may experience a slight reddening around hair follicles following the treatment, which typically disappears within a few minutes. You should be sure to avoid sun exposure or use sunscreen following the laser treatment.

For one or two weeks after the procedure, it will seem as if hair continues to grow. However, the affected hairs will easily fall out soon after; or, if you shave, they simply won’t grow back.

Are there any possible side effects?

Side effects are very rare. With Lyra, chances of scarring and pigmentation changes are minimized. Blistering, soft scabbing, or redness sometimes occurs at the treatment site, but disappears quickly or within a few days. In certain cases, the skin could become slightly lighter or darker. You will be notified during your consult if you are susceptible to these side effects. You must limit your sun exposure for 2 to 4 weeks before and after treatment. This will greatly minimize the risk of complications.
